How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I wanted my model on my front cover and contents page to represent masculinity as he has no top on and we can see his muscles, I did this deliberately so my audience would aspire to be like him because many magazine front covers, for example VIBE magazine, show a very masculine topless man. This represents a particular social group because my target audience ages 16 - 19 will aspire to be like these muscular men and on social media it is a trend to go to the gym and be muscular. I also wanted my model to represent a 'bad boy' as girls aged 16 - 19 are attracted to the dangerous side.
The tattoos support this as tattoos symbolize the stereotypical view of people who do not want to conform to the hegemonic values of society. Tattoos are an identifier of a subculture resisting norms and authority. He is also in line with the female gaze as my target audience are female as well as male, the female gaze represents the gaze of a female viewer and my front cover attracts to them as they'll see my model as attractive.

My model on my contents page represents how women are viewed in the media. I have done this deliberately as she is in line with the male gaze. The male gaze is the way in which women are viewed from a masculine point of view through presenting women as objects of male pleasure. Woman are viewed through the eyes of a heterosexual male. Women are forced to view other women through the same eyes as a heterosexual male as they will also aspire to be like the model. However, some women can recognise the power which comes from the male gaze ad they can use this and their beauty to gain power and become successful for example, Kim Kardashian. My model is in a seductive pose, similar to the model on the Rolling Stone cover. Her head is tilted, she's touching her face and is giving direct address to the camera. This represents a particular social group as most boys of my target audience would be attracted to this woman.
I have also, deliberately objectified my model using the language on my contents page as women are objectified in the media. As she is a music artist, I gave her a story on the content page which reads "Eye Candy, Lady Leshur Shines Bright." This objectifies her as she is called eye candy, eye candy is a visual image that is superficially attractive and entertaining but intellectually undemanding.

My double page spread represents hip-hop and the hip-hop scene as my headline, which reads "the grind doesn't stop". This shows that the hip-hop scene is part of a lifestyle and not just music. The models direct address also shows this as he has a serious face looking straight at the camera. My model represent the lifestyle of hip-hop artists from his image and body shape as they are important features of the lifestyle. From the image we can tell he is quite arrogant and cocky which is not a negative thing as most people in my target social group would aspire to be like him.
